League of Legends fans may expect to be transported back there by Arcane Season 2 on Netflix. Following the success of the first season of Arcane, which received a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Netflix swiftly approved the second season. Even though there haven’t been many announcements about the upcoming season, fans can still look forward to a lot.
Arcane Season 2: Release Date
During a video conference held by Tencent, the parent company of League of Legends, in September of 2023, it was disclosed that fans can anticipate the animated series to be available on Netflix in Q4 of 2024, specifically between the months of October and December.
Riot Games CEO, Nicolo, had previously hinted that the series would not be released in 2023, stating, “So, I just watched the third episode of Season 2 before my flight to China. We are making progress on it. However, it is not yet ready, and there are two reasons for that. Firstly, we prioritize quality and do not wish to rush the process, which takes time. This is a valid reason.”
Co-showrunner, Christian Linke, discussed the scripts for Season 2 during a Reddit AMA, stating, “There are always some adjustments that occur during the process. Seeing storyboards and hearing voices for the first time can reveal that something is not quite right, or that there are new opportunities that were not recognized before.”

What Can You Expect from Arcane Season 2?
Details regarding the plot of Arcane Season 2 are currently limited. However, there exist a few potential avenues for the new season to explore, given the events of the Season 1 finale.
It is of particular interest to observe which members of the council will survive the bombing of the Piltover chambers orchestrated by Jinx. Jayce, being a prominent character, may emerge unscathed. Conversely, councilors Mel and Cassandra may not be as fortunate, with their injuries and potential demise serving as a source of inspiration for Jayce (a close friend of Mel) and Katie Leung’s Caitlyn (daughter of Cassandra) in Season 2. Should some members of the council perish as a result of the bombing, this could potentially lead to a vote in favor of Zaun’s independence. Such a hostile act could have far-reaching consequences.
It is highly likely that in Season 2, Hailee Steinfeld’s character Vi will return to reside in Ekko’s Firelight utopia located in the undercity. Despite Jinx sparing her sister and opting to kill Silco instead, the relationship between Vi and Jinx may not be reconcilable.
Although Scientist Singed played a minor role in Season 1, he could potentially exploit Zaun’s newfound freedom. There have been numerous speculations that the shimmer-filled creature observed in Singed’s laboratory, Warwick, could be the father of Vi and Jinx, Vander. It is possible that Season 2 will explore how the sisters cope with the revelation of their father’s survival.
